Wills - Making a Will

(See also Lifetime Planning and Contested Probate and Wills)

A properly made Will gives you absolute peace of mind. It allows you to make provision for your partner and family and know that your wishes will be carried out. Making a Will is also often the first step to take in structuring your affairs in order to minimise your liability for Inheritance Tax.

Not making a Will can be distressing for those left behind and it can also cause hardship. Sadly, the possessions of a person who dies 'intestate' (without making a Will), may not be distributed as their owner would have wished.

If you have a dependent relative, friend, or pets for whom you want to make provision, making your wishes known in a Will is absolutely essential. It is very important for unmarried couples to make Wills, and our team also specialises in preparing Wills for civil partnerships.

Making a Will creates certainty, reduces worry and gives you the peace of mind of knowing exactly how your money, property and possessions will be dealt with after your death.

Changes in your financial or family circumstances can affect an existing Will and our solicitors and lawyers can advise you on how to update your Will to ensure your loved ones are still provided for.
